The Spark Behind Grrlforge

I’m in my luteal phase, I’ve recently moved house, and life has been a little fuller than usual. Like most women, I’ve had competing priorities and moments where my energy has needed to go elsewhere.

And somewhere amongst all of that, I realised I’d taken my foot off the accelerator with Grrlforge.

Not because I’ve stopped believing in it. Quite the opposite.

Sometimes stepping back gives you the opportunity to remember why you started something in the first place.

I started thinking about Grrlforge because I saw a gap in the way we support women.

There are countless resources for women’s health, fitness, wellbeing and business — but much of it exists in separate silos. I wanted to imagine something that connected the dots and supported women through the whole lifecycle — from girlhood through to older age.

A place for good information. Trusted experts. Practical tools. Movement and strength. Nutrition. Energy. Cycles. Resilience. Wellbeing.

But also a place that celebrates women doing things.

Women building businesses. Creating. Leading. Teaching. Making. Supporting their communities.

Because I think strength is about much more than physical strength.

It’s having enough knowledge to understand your body.

Enough curiosity to question what you're told.

Enough confidence to advocate for yourself.

Enough resilience to navigate the seasons of life.

And enough generosity to share what you've learned with another woman.

That last part is particularly important to me.

Because knowledge doesn't stop with the woman who learns it.

It gets passed between friends, sisters, mothers and daughters. It moves through families and communities. One woman's experience can make another woman's path a little easier.

That's the kind of space I want Grrlforge to become.

Not another platform telling women who they should be.

Not another place demanding that we optimise every minute of our lives.

But a place we can come to when we need something — information, inspiration, connection, a practical tool, a new idea, or simply a reminder of what we're capable of.

And perhaps my little pause has been a useful reminder of that.

We don't have to be operating at 100% all the time.

Life has seasons. Our bodies have seasons. Our energy has seasons.

The work is not to fight those seasons, but to understand them — and keep moving forward in a way that works for us.

So I'm picking up the thread again.

The spark is still there.

Grrlforge — spark the light. Pass it on.
